Giscome Portage Trail is a designated Heritage Trail. The trail crosses the Continental Divide, which separates the Pacific and Arctic watersheds. Historically the route was known and used by the indigenous peoples of the area.
Update as of Nov 9, 2024: the trail was cleared of blowdown from the Mitchell Road Trailhead (Huble Homestead end) to the powerline right of way, approx. 7 km of trail.
*As of Jan 2025 the trail has again been hit by winter storms and it is reported that more blowdown has occurred.
Located 40 km north of Prince George and 6 km off Hwy 97 North on Mitchell Road. The Northern trailhead is located where the trail comes out at Barney Creek, with a summer parking area located adjacent to the end of the trail and winter parking about 150m up Barney Road and to the left. The southern trailhead is located approx 750m up Mitchcell Rd. from the Huble Homestead parking area.
