Raven Lake/Grizzly Den Crossover

Description

Located about 100 kms southeast of Prince George,via Highway 16. This attractive area, developed over a number of years, is popular with both cross-country skiers and hikers. Crossover trail mid-section is largely in the alpine. 3 cabins on route: 8-Mile, Grizzly Den and Raven Lake.

Birchleg Trail

Description

The Birchleg Trail offers cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and hiking, and is located on the north-side of Tabor Mountain with the trail head 24 km east of Prince George on Highway 16 as measured from the east-end of the Yellowhead Bridge as it continues off 1st Ave over the Fraser River. A skiing/hiking sign indicates that the parking area is about 300 metres ahead.

Backside Trail

Description

The Backside Trail is one of several informal trails streaming from the Greenway Trail in Prince George, BC. This trail takes about 2 hours of hiking plus breaks, covering about 9 km over relatively level terrain.

There are many junctions along the way some of which have “You are here” maps and/or a sign or signs naming other trails branching off at that point. However, the following description is the most reliable at this time to be guided by.

Wilkins Park

Description

This 57-hectare park provides a system of short trails and offers scenic views of the enormous cottonwood trees, the Nechako River and at certain times of the year, salmon can be viewed moving up the river to spawn.

Maps of the park can be downloaded from the Fraser-Fort George Regional District website. The trails are gentle and well marked and there is a picnic shelter with a wood stove making it a good destination for a family-friendly outing.

Pidherny

Description

The Pidherny Recreation Site is a 620 hectare area located about 12km to the northwest of downtown Prince George. The trail network is managed by the Prince George Cycling Club (PGCC) through an agreement with Recreation Sites and Trails BC. With almost 30 kilometres of trails, it is used by walkers, runners, skiers, mountain bikers and snowshoers.
